Powermatic...5 hp. (The real one, not the contractor line model they came out with a few years ago...although it's not a bad saw)

DeWalt, Ridgid or Bosch. My personal one is the DeWalt. About 5 yrs old and still running great. On the job we are using a Ridgid. All are great. About $500 and 60 lbs.
Has the power to rip 2 by material and just fine for finishing work.
Alex.
You couldn't possibly be more vague, could you? This reminds me of the old joke about the young sailor who asked about finding a woman in town, "Do you suppose I should look for a redhead or a blonde?"
Although a youngish one would be nice...
Excellence is its own reward!
Sure. My favorite thus far was a SCMI brand with the blade set all the way on the left. The rip capacity was 8', the sliding table extended 8' the other way. Dead square, slid like a dream, with the power feed you could use it as a strait line.
OK, I'm razzin you a little, since that one's about 25 grand. Budget, space, intended use, features you're looking for? In the portable neighborhood, the Dewalt does have some nice bennies you don't find on many others, but I haven't tried them all (who has?).

Danz:
I have the Dewalt 746 hybrid contractors saw on a mobile base with cast iron extension wings. I am a serious renovator rather than a woodworker and this saw is vibration-free, accurate, and smooth. I use a Jet dust collector with this saw and usually only have to clean a little saw dust around the base when I finish using it. If you are considering a contractors saw then you should definitely look at this one. If you buy a portable contractors saw, buy the best thin kerf carbide tipped blades that you can and the thin blades will make up for some loss in power.

i'm a dewalt freek so i can only tell you what my boss says.i'll only buy dewalt,my boss hates dewalt.but he asked me to bring my table saw to the site one day and has asked for it by name ever sence.i transport it in a jeep with no problems, and it earns its keep.
danz, i'll give you the usual do a search, or even look just round this heading, there's a portable thread going already. I have the bosch w/ folding stand. Don't like a fine kerf blade, wobbles too much for a smooth cut. The saw has the power to use a thick Freud blade that cuts easy and smooth. Optional Dust bag is a waste of $, works well blocking the bottom of the base and using a vac. Fence good, stays true. If I had a criticism, it would be the plastic base. I don't feel good sliding it in the van. It's held up, but that plastic worries me. Portable, but not lite. Good saw.
