Has anyone ever used their pickup truck’s tailgate as a workbench, by attaching a mitre saw, or table saw, or planer to it? I’m looking for some ideas that would allow fast setup and takedown for those short term jobs, but would still provide some degree of stability.
Thanks.

I've used a miter saw on the tailgate alot . Never attached it , just put a piece of scrap plywood under it to keep it from rockin .Guess you could use a couple of those adjustable roller supports to hold up long stock . If I'm gonna do much sawing I use a folding saw stand I made out of 1" square tubeing . Had some folding extensions planned but havn't got around to them . I usually just cobble something up out of scrap . Chuck
*Rich , I allways use the tail gate, it is the only bench that gets cleaned every day . I think my new shop will have hinged bench tops also.
*I use the tailgate of my 1992 F-150 quite a bit. My only complaint is that clamps will only stay in place on the sides!!! However, most of the time I like to use folding metal sawhorses. Sometimes, I use a combination of the tailgate and sawhorses for sheet goods. Only problem is if the breeze is blowing just right, it doesn't take long to trash the truck bed. Since I have a shell on mine, the sawdust won't blow out on the way home!
