I’ve not done a lot of floors with LVL and I-joist so this may be a silly question but here it goes. We have a situation where we have our beam pocket set already and due to a sizing increase on our I-joist, we have a 11 7/8 LVL that we will be side hanging 14″ I-joist on. We are unable to raise the LVL up 2 1/8″ so joist will stick up the 2 1/8″ above LVL. In this case, should we just add a 2×4 on its side plus a 5/8″ OSB to bring LVL up to same height as top of I-Joist ? If so, should we use face mount or top mount hangers? Ideally the hangers can provide lateral stability for top I-joist flange and nail into the 2×4 capping the LVL. Does anyone see any issues with this? See drawing for clarification.

You are on the right track. You should reach out to a Simpson hardware rep that can provide the correct hanger for your specific project needs. If allowed, face mount will be better so you are not having to deal with the uneven top of the LVL when packing it out with the 2x and plywood to flush it up with the top of the I-joists.
