I originally posted this at FW, but I think it’s more at home here. (Plus I’ve now got some better pics)
I built this pantry in what used to be a deep closet. They had taken down a wall to expand the kitchen.
The case, doors, and drawer faces are MDF. The layout was desigend to be as ergonomicly freindly as possible. The three large middle drawers are intended for heavy appliances like blenders and such, the smaller bottom drawes are for bulk storage of dry goods like rice ect.

You better beleive I fastened it well. It's attached on all four sides to the surrounding stud work with three inch deck screws. But actually that is more to keep it aligned with itself. It's made of three units, two large boxes on the bottom, and the top three shelves are one unit. All joined with face frames. It's all MDF, IE, it has the added advantage of being very heavy all by itself. You could easily open the three top shelving units fully loaded, and it would not tip over due to the rest of the unit acting as a counter weight. It's also located over a bearing wall in the basement.
Thanks for the compliments, the owners are happy with it, and that in the end is what matters.

I like it.....It looks very compact.....Is the kitchen large or small?
It actually lives in the dining room area of the kitchen. They took out a wall to enlarge the kitchen space. The kitchen is still smallish, but with the eating area it feels much more open.
I've never really thought of it as compact, unless that means you can cram a lot of stuff in to it, which is true. It's almost nine feet high and five across, four feet deep. If it wern't stuck in a wall, it would be the biggest single unit piece of furniture I've ever built.

Thanks......I like the unit......My kitchen is compact but with enough room to twirl a cat!! <G>
Storage space in a kitchen is essential.....My husband built shelves and cabinets just so we could store all of the stuff......Cooks can never have too much space......
