Tando Beach House vs Cedar Impressions Siding
Renovating exterior of my home. Small ranch. Trying to use mid to upper tier components. Used Anderson Woodwright windows which I thought were top quality but was disappointed in construction quality. Trying to avoid making a mistake with siding and trim. For siding I am considering Tando Beach House or Certainteed Cedar Impressions.
Can anyone provide a professional perspective on the Tando? I am a little alarmed at the stories of Certainteed failures as well as reports of less than adequate response regarding failure/warping, etc. I have not been able to find any negative experiences with the Tando product which leads me to 2 possible conclusions. 1-The product is amazing or 2-They have hired web cleaners to remove negative experiences. I am concerned with the durability of the “print” on the tando siding regarding its durability and fade resistance as opposed to the more “homogenous” coloring of the Certainteed where the color is consistent through the siding panel. I am primarily looking for responses from homeowners who have either product or better yet installers who have used one or both products.
Finally, I am struggling between using Boral or Azek for the trim. The Boral seems more fragile than the Azek. I want to avoid J-channel to the extent possible and will be using either factory grooved trim or routing trim out to receive the siding. Interested in anyone’s perspective on these products. Thanks in advance for your replies!

what's wrong with Hardie plank cedar imprint?
Nothing. Fine product. But in the research I did some quality issues appeared, and I was concerned about moisture getting behind it and when the sun comes out being driven into the wall. Seems like that would be less of an issue with vinyl siding.
did you get a good answer to this question...i am trying to decide now
I'm a big fan of Hardiboard. Installed in 2001 in Big Bear Lake, CA. Lots of snow.
Painted when installed, still looks great. I installed and painted.
thanks I like hardie board too but that is not an option at this point
I am looking at the vinyl shakes and these 2 are the top contenders and cedar impressions is more expensive. I don't know if I will regret going with the beach house and of course the published pics look perfect !!
I, too, am considering Tando Beach House Shake siding as an accent portion on my house. What did you end up going with, and how did it turn out? Any insights, learnings, regrets?
