Tankless versus Boiler for radiant heat
Hi!
I have several bids coming in to replace my old boiler heater. I have 3 contractors recommending boilers and 1 recommending tankless. I have not been able to find adequate comparisons between the two so I thought I’d ask in this forum. Finished basement and main floor for a total of 3200 sqft. I’m also asking to have the domestic water be heated by the system.
Comments are welcomed- Thanks

One question is whether by "tankless" you mean that they are using an on demand water heater as a boiler, or does that mean they are recommending a boiler that has a tankless coil or on demand hot water function built in?
Second question: how many people in the home?
Third question: where are you?
Fourth: for DHW, are we talking about a couple of standard showers, or do you have any unusual or large loads like a really big tub, multi-nozzle spa showers, etc?
And finally, how will the radiant heat be installed? Aluminum fins in the joists, overfloor product like Warmboard, in concrete, etc?

Answer to question 4
Nothing special ablout the showers, just tubs with shower a single shower head
Answer to last question
The house currently has radiant heat in the concrete floor in the basement, in the ceilings and walls in the main living space, and there is on 18*18 room off of the basement area that has a crawl space under it, in that room we are either doing the warm board or the gypcrete (undecided).
