Tape for extruded rigid foam (XPS)
Hello-
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what type of tape holds best on blueboard foam in an exterior application. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
If possible I try to use the tape that is prescribed for the product. If you are using Dow use the Dow tape. Otherwise lumberyards have a generic tape.
red tape is what we use, of course, depending on the situation..will it eventually be below grade? sided over? if it's below grade, use Bituthane over the entirety, behind siding, just get it to stay on the wall until the siding goes up.
All I ever wanted in life was an unfair advantage...
I used tuck tape as well, the red stuff. i have had the blue XPS with the joints taped on the outside of my house over the whole winter and it has held through all the wind, rain, wind, snow and wind.

Thanks for your responses guys. I'm not sure I'm familiar with what you guys are calling tuck tape. What brand is it and which retailers carry it?
I think "tuck tape" is what Canadians call contractors' tape.
canadians call it "tuck tape" too. It is the name that is printed every few inches right on the roll. the stuff I buy is red and is made in Canada by Canadian Technical Tape Ltd. in Montreal.
It is also called sheathing tape. One of the names is probably a general name and the other is a brand name. Not sure which is which - and it doesn't matter as long as we know what we're talking about.
