Tar paper under flooring – 2nd floor

Planning to install some prefinished 3/4 red oak bella wood my son bought, that oddly has no instructions(!!!!) Last time I did flooring you put down tar paper- the room we are doing the flooring is on the second floor of his house- do I still need the tar paper?

I'd use red rosin paper. Tar paper helps as a moisture barrier over a crawl space (1st flr). From my experience, in 2nd floor applications, if you have a leak tar paper just slows down the drying process considerably.
