how/where do you store those gif. files?"there's enough for everyone"

          5. rez | Jan 29, 2009 06:48am | #21

            well, many years ago I...

If I told you I'd have to kill you.

            be email on the way.

          6. DavidxDoud | Jan 29, 2009 07:11am | #22

i sent you an email with a good address - the forum address isn't current and I'm scared to try to change it - "there's enough for everyone"

          7. DavidxDoud | Jan 29, 2009 07:42am | #23

I wasn't asking for your secret stash- I was wondering about capturing a gif. and storing it on my computer - my photo program won't do it - "there's enough for everyone"

          8. rez | Jan 29, 2009 07:55am | #24

Oh, my puter will do a save on a gif most of the time but not always. Must be the way some are made or being presented at the time, I'm guessing.

You say your program will not permit you to save a gif in your documents at all?

I save a gif the same way as a pic...save picture as.

Maybe try highlighting the gif before attempting to save.

I suppose you already know once a gif appears anywhere here on site it can be copy/pasted to a post anywhere else on site

so if worse come to worse you could build a cache of them somewhere.

Not the best but what you going to do? View Image

          9. DavidxDoud | Jan 29, 2009 07:58am | #25

so you save a gif as a document?I'll try that - iPhoto won't do it - wish the sandbox would cross to here with downloads, but it doesn't - at least not for me - "there's enough for everyone"

          10. rez | Jan 29, 2009 08:23am | #26

ya, treat it like a photo, save picture as.

Ok, I've saved my picture. Now how do you get it into the post? Do you have to attach the file first? Thanks

          12. rez | Jan 30, 2009 02:58am | #29

            Yes, that's the first step.

Here's a link to an old thread dealing with attaching and posting a picture or file on BT. 24441.75

A lot of data in there and you can skim it until you find what you need.

If you need any more info let me know.

             Cheers

Thanks. I uploaded the picture and I can copy and paste it into my post. So thanks for getting me that far. At the bottom of my post,it shows that I have attachments (which are the pictures), yet I noticed on your posts, you have pictures without the message about attachments. Do you know why that should be? Thanks again.

          15. rez | Feb 02, 2009 09:01pm | #34

Most of the time I might have a pic in the body of my post

it comes from a copy/paste from somewhere already on other forum posts somewhere, sometime in the past.

Once a pic is posted on BT the first time via an attachment then that particular pic can be transferred to other BT posts by a copy/paste taken from that first post or any other post it may later find its way to.

I have read that there is a technique that some poster's can post with the normal attachment procedure and then after posting go back and remove the attachment icon and still keep the pic in the post

but I never use it as on occasion I had it fail and end up showing the dreaded redX in the box as apparently I snafued and did something wrong in the process.

Perhaps someone may see this post and be better able to explain the technique.

            Cheers
