Early on, I tried several tax preparation software packages. However, in the dozen years that I have been renting out my house, I have been using Turbo-Tax Premium. I used the Premium version because I needed the state tax package which came as a package. This year, my primary residence will be in the state of Washington, which does not have a state income tax.
I am wondering if there is any real advantage in going with the slightly more expensive Premium version over the $19.99 basic or standard version. I realize the the Premium package has more features – however, most of them seem to be to provide suggestions that were never applicable to me.
I assume that all the rest of you have already done your taxes, unlike some of us who tend to procrastinate, so perhaps your experience with preparing your taxes this year can provide some insight into whether the more expensive package is actually worth the extra cost.

I did mine this year with Turbotax, no business, just regular salary, home mortgage, etc. For some reason i found that I could not use the most basic version, went with the next one up. Worked well.

I used to use turbo, but one year, for reasons unknown, it went wacky on me. I've been using H&R Block since... no problems Winterlude, Winterlude, my little daisy,
