how many revolusions (ie layers) of teflon tape do i use on a typical application for a treaded fitting for potable water. Is there a difference based on materials. I would normally be joining say copper with brass or copper with plastic.

Kidding... I use 3-4
Like Mr. T. - I generally use 3 or 4.
Unless I'm talking while I'm doing it, in which case it may get closer to that 27.5 figure before I realize what I've done.
Anybody else have that problem ???
My kid knocked up your honor student.
If you're joining copper to brass, why not solder?
Are you suggesting he solder the threads?
I would suggest a sweated fitting over a threaded one, unless there is a good reason not to. I understand the need to dissasemble and service some components.
