Temporarily remove steam radiator safely
We are going to begin work on our bathroom and need to temporarily remove the steam radiator so that we can get at the space behind it.
How can we safely do this?
I imagine that we have to cap the pipe somehow (it’s a one pipe system) and have no idea what such a devide is called.
Advice?

There is usually a valve right by the union that joins the radiator to the pipe. Just close the valve. If there is no valve you might have to unscrew the pipe fittings and temporaily screw on/in the appropriate sized cap or plug.
