Yes, sheetrock aka drywall aka gypsum board aka gyprock aka wall board etc... are the same thing.
Ponywall refers to a framed wall that is only a couple feet high or less and are usually load bearing.
Cribbing refers setting the formwork for a cast in place concrete foundation.
Hope it helps,
Sean

thanks Sean,
These posts are interesting reading but some of the terms have me stumped. :)

Sean - I was waiting for an someone to answer - I find the regional differences in terms and methods fascinating. I'd agree with two - though I believe Shetrock is a trademarked name of USG's and - as a designer doing specs and such - have been taught to label it gypsum wall board or g.w.b. Gyprock may be a trade marked name too - anybody here know?
But cribbing has always meant a structural support - usually temporary - composed of timbers laid log cabin style - two or more one way, and the next layer of two or more ninety degrees to the layer below. If used for bridges or in water, the cribbing might be spiked and filled with stones. But I don't doubt for a second that your use of the term is also common.
*Sorry but I've posted this question twice. Gyprock is the term we use over here, In N.Z. its called Gibboard.ThanksMark

This is just a memory guess but would gyprock be a 3/8 x16" x 48" subsurface for plastering used in lieu of wire lath?

Hello Richard,
Our gyprock is what you call drywall. We get it in sizes from 2400 (8') to 6 metres (18') in widths 1200 and 1350 by 10 and 13mm thick. Also 16mm fibreglass reinforced for fire rated walls. There is very little plastering ( solid rendering )done here especially the type you refer to. Hardies make a F.C. sheet that can be used as a backer board but it's not used much.Solid plasterers here get around $35/sq/mt they supply.
