I have a crack between my concrete foundation and the concrete pad that makes up the U-shaped outdoor ‘front porch’ of my home. Unfortunately the bottom of outside wall has to go over this crack, leaving a path for termites from the ground up into the wall. Bad building practice, I know, but I am stuck with it. I have removed the lower course of siding and sheathing to get at the crack; what can I cover the crack with, so that I can complete the repair and be confident that termites cannot come up through the crack (again) after I cannot see it?
Were I the builder, I would have put the pad a few inches lower than the top of the foundation so some concrete would always be showing. This is rarely done unfortunately.
