Hello. I have always avoided texturing a ceiling by just gritting my teeth and sanding the new ceiling smooth, but this time the homeowner wants a knock-down splatter ceiling to match the rest of his fairly new house; we’ve built a new room with sheetrock walls and ceiling. I went to the store and bought the gun and hopper- I think it is a good one. Does anyone have any good tips before I give it a shot? Thanks.

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Win, it takes very little air pressure to do this, so set the pressure down. The mud needs to be thinned quite a bit. About the consistency of latex paint. Spray samples and adjust the pressure and the consistency to get the right texture.
Hope this helps,
Louis
*WinAfter I get a ceiling sprayed, I use an 18" knife to knockdown the mud. Just wet the knife after every other pass and keep the angle low so it doesn't washboard on you. After drying, use the same knife to scrape off any crumbs and you're ready for paint.
