My home has a textured ceiling in the bathroom. Due to humidity and moisture it started to develop a couple lines of mold, very light like mildew. I have tried soaking it with vinegar, chemicals for mold from the store and I can’t get it fully removed. If I try and scrub it gets into the smudge of the ceiling texture and I can’t get it off. I tried using a brush but it just produces a fine dust everywhere and provides no progress. I thought about using a sanding tool for the ceiling and remove it all and go back with a flat ceiling and just paint it. Does anyone have any suggestions to get mildew and mold out of a textured type of ceiling without destroying it. The areas I have tried already look pretty bad. Thanks.

Spray some bleach on it.
(of course, be careful not to breathe it or get it in your eyes.)
If you decide to get rid of the texture don't try to sand it all off. Give it a wash with vinegar, prime it and skim coat it 3 coats with joint compound. Don't use lightweight or topping as those aren't great for bathrooms. Alternately if you don't have skimming skills clean the existing, locate the studs and add another layer of drywall on top. Use a bathroom paint that has a mildew inhibitor.
