Thank you all for sending meto the top

StanFoster | Posted in General Discussion on December 17, 2008 02:50am

I need to just start a thank you thread….so I can say it all in one place.

I cant thank you all enough for the gracious, kind, encouraging comments all through this competition.  To be accepted amongst your peers humbles me a lot.   I see exquisite work ethics and craftsmanship displayed here on this forum, and I am proud to be a small part of it.

I will never ever forget this experience.  I remember vividly the day Dewalt was to call the 17 finalists saying they had made the cut.  This was on a Friday, Sept. 25th…and I kept thinking…”I wonder what it would feel like to receive such a call”   Well, I soon had that curiousity answered when I did receive the call.

I teared up when told over the phone I had made the cut…and it was because I knew how I was wired….and I was going to be giving it everything I had.    I had an enormous adrenalin rush that didnt go away.  I swear I became addicted to this self made chemical.

I had a theme song….”Jump” by Van Halen… playing everyday in my shop.     I love the first lyrics….” I get up….and nothing gets me down….youve got it tough…Ive seen the toughest around…”       That song would just get me pumped and jumped…

Wow…the thrill of posting to a journal the progress of the stairways.

Its all over now…..and what a relief.

Thanks again everyone…..the most important things I have won are the many kind comments towards my project…but topping these comments I received are the ones on how I handled myself campaigning for all 17 of us.

God bless everyone…and have a very merrry Christmas…and may 2009 become much better than anticipated for all.

I am just worn out…and am taking it easy now.

Stan

    Stan-

I never could get logged onto the DW site to vote for you, so I'm especially glad you won. You deserved it.

Now enjoy your victory, and  your rest.

    You're welcome Stan.

but you did all the work.  What we did was pretty small compared to the time & effort you put into sharing in your posts with pictures for the rest of us to ogle or learn or both and that's not counting your competition piece.

Enjoy them tools and your moment at the top.

I told you before it started you would win this thing =).  I dont know what you were so worried about.  You got my three a day EVERY day.  GREAT JOB MAN, its great to see you win not only because you had the best project but because of the upstanding dude you showed yourself to be.  Thank you, you are an example to me.

we need you to enter something else,it's going to be boring around here now, all the prisoners have been freed [i think that was a conspiracy thing, they left as it started and came back when it was over, you don't happen to know where brad works do ya,taunton?lol]

we got nothing to bitch at dewalt about,i'm thinking theres a world competiton somewhere.

but stan i gotta tell you,you dissapoint me in your music selection,i always figure "stairway to heaven " rocked your  shop.

just one more,"way to go "and i think we all had as much fun with as you did. larry

Congratulations Stan, I voted as much as I could.  In my mind you are what I call the lasting craftsman.

I think that craftsman with your abilities are diminishing.  I would give anything to be able to learn from somebody with your gift.  Just from your quality of work and the support you receive from everyone around you, I can tell what kind of person you are.

I hope you enjoy the title that you have been given.  Even more, I hope you realize what you have given all of us.  Everyone looks up to you and wishes we could truely be you.  You seem like a down to earth guy and are pretty laid back.  We all try to model ourselves around you.

For years, I am going to tell my guys when they make a mistake that Stan Foster wouldn't do that.  Or, what would Stan do?  I still hope you put a seminar on.  I'm sure the line will be about as long as a Duke vs. North Carolina basketball game.

Once again, thank youfor everything.  You winning the contest, made us all feel like we won.  In my mind (and many others) you are the best.  Congrats and relax for awhile.  But don't forget about the seminar.
