This is my own kitchen–with all the work done by myself apart from the refinished floor.
Where the frnch doors are used to be a window with a sink under it– I will be building a deck out there before too long.
The Window opening is new (brick veener house–so not as easy as I was hoping)
Cabs are Thomasville.
Counters are oak–that I fabricated myself (12 foot oak planks from HD, a biscuit cutter and clamps..oh and a sander)there are a little wavy if the light catches them right but pretty good for $250.
enjoy

Ya, that counter looks sweet. What did you use to seal it to the wall behind the sink?
Character? I never had any problem with character. Why, people've been telling me I was one every since I was a kid.
I used cleats on the under side of the counter screwed to the cabs and sealed the back and sides of the counter to the walls with clear silicon--gives a cleaner look than white--I'm expecting to have to do regular maintenance on the counters--definitely not install and forget--it's all a big experiment.

Great work CJE; thanks for sharing! One question; I wonder what you how you finished the countertops? My only concern would be how it'll hold up compared to solid surface or even Formica. Certainly a fantastic looking solution..

The counters are stained and then 5 or 6 layers of poly--however, I will probably be recoating them yearly--we will see--when I suggested the idea of these counters on this site I got a lot of comments trying to dissuade me--all for valid reasons--but I knew they would look fantastic--so I decided to go for vanity over practicality and as I did it my self it's not a huge financial investment--like I said earlier the counters "cost" me about $300--not including labor.
