Anybody want to share their opinions/expieriences with compressors?
My main purpose is to run two trim nailers so size is not a factor. I am not impressed with the pancakes that I have seen. I would like to find something as quiet as possible, and am willing to pay for build quality.

"Thomas" brand are well regarded for their quality and low noise.
I've had a Makita Mac 500 (replaced by the mac 750) for 15 years and it's perfect for what you want, except quiet it isn't, it's oilless
Then again it only cycles every five minutes for 20 seconds, when I'm shooting constantly.

The best?
I dunno......but I've been very happy with an Emglo twin tank I've had for years.
Worked with a pancake compressor for the first time a couple weeks ago....I couldn't believe how often the thing kicked on and for how long it ran. (Maybe for a single gun, running some trim....but nothing more.)

Thomas - I love my small very quiet hot dog unit. If it won't drive two trim guns (it should) buy two. Your back and ears will thank you.
You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.

I have a thomas 635HD compressor and it is fantastic. It is very light, and I can easily carry it, 50 feet of flexeel and a gun from location to location in one trip. It is very quiet, and recovers quickly. I have used it with a stick framer (max 890rh) (you get 10 shots and then it cycles) a 15 guage finish gun Hitachi 65MA2 (get about 25 shots) and an 18 guage hitachi which is good for 30+ shots.
It is very hard to get ahead of the compressor, (which is good) I did manage to do it once sheathing, but I really didnt buy the compressor for that so, I am very pleased!
Thanks for your advise guys. Has anybody used the Makita MAC2400? (its the 4 gal. twin tank unit)
Jerseyjeff...how do you like your 65MA2. I had decided to orded that gun.
Here's another vote for the Thomas 635HD compressor. I've had mine for a few years, small and runs great. I have never tripped a breaker in the coldest of weather. I am glad I followed my brother's advice on this purchase.I bought it from Amazon as I do most everything else.
