Putting aside all arguments that disfavor vinyl siding, I’d like to know which brands are the best. More specifically, which brands stand up better with time in regard to NOT becoming chalky and faded?
Are certain colors less prone to color fade?
Thanks in advance, and please, let’s not have an anti-vinyl debate. 🙂

I'm just passing on what I've read and heard from my suppliers. "Wolverine brand rated # 1 in quality in brand use study by Builder magazine, and first by architects in readers choice survey by Architectural Record."
Also CertainTeed rated "brand used and spec'd most often in the brand use study in Remodeling magazine." Worth noting( or worth nothing) CertainTeed owns Wolverine.

Consumer Reports had an article about 6 months ago rating vinyl siding - not that I necessarily think that Consumer's Report is the best source of information on building materials, but it's a a place to start.

Certainteed vinal siding is the only brand approved for use in Dade county Florida. After Hurricane Andrew went thru, all other types of siding were banned. Seems that Certainteed has a special triple layer nailing strip, and an extra deep double interlocking bottom strip. Just don't set your nails too tight, also use ring shank galv. wide heads, if you can find them.
