Anyone know anything specific about price changes in shingles in the past 4 months? I’m talking about regular asphalt 3 tab. My roofing budget is eschew and I’m trying to figure out where I went wrong.

Sing with me, The oil prices go up and down
up and down.....
Best to you and yours, Chris.
Some say I know too much.
bump...
i work at....... home depot and the shingle prices went up like a dollar or so in the last year. in my area though the hd's used to carry owenc corning and lowes carried gaf (i think might have been certinteed) but we picked up gaf and lowes owens corning, then both hd andlowes had some steep discounts to clear out inventory. could this have happened in your area?
Thanks for the response.
I don't buy shingles from home centers because I need them delivered (for free). I have a supplier that I phone in my orders to, and normally no one can beat their price. I think we get a pretty good discount because of the volume we do on the apartment side of our construction dept - maybe 150 squares a pop for weeks in a row. I guess I really need to call them and ask about recent price fluctuations.
Matt,
I haven't noticed any jumps in the last few months.
in 2005 I recieved notices from suppliers on 5 seperate occasions anouncing planned increases of 5%-7% each time. In 2006 I got anouncements of increases inJan-Feb and also in May---none since may.
I don't think any of the increases were EVEr as big as announced--especially in shingles------- but the jumps were more noticeable in metal, caulk etc.
also instituted "temporary" fuel sur charges which have not yet dis-appeared.
No hikes since MAY.
