Hey…anyone from the Mississippi Gulf Coast?
I was there last week doing some consulting work and was wondering why the reconstruction seems to be so slow? Folks tell me its because the insurance money just isn’t getting paid out as folks might expect. Is that true?
Just curious to see so many homes still not rebuilt? Is there truly a labor shortage or just a money shortage to pay for it?

I don't live there, but have been down there for almost 3 months doing a commercial roofing job. I live in Pensacola, FL and there is nothing here.
The local guys say there is work but its slow, because of insurance payouts for one.
I believe I saw in the paper that FEMA just released its floodplain map. If you drove Hiway 90 between Waveland and Ocean Springs the roads are just now getting driveable.
I been working the ms gulf coast for the last two years. Its not has bad as people think. you get a mile from the beach, you cant even tell a hurricane hit. you see alot of trailer yet, bt that because they want you to think there hurting. The people that has not rebuilt, are the ones that want the government to do it for them.
now houses being built, you have to understand. there five town against each other. wavelane, bay st louis, pass christian, gulfport, biloxi, gauiter, pasagoula, with Vanclease to the north. These town are wll to wall, so now growth to east or west.the gulf to the south. just north of I10 is a wildness forest that protected. Not much area to move. Housing is not cheap. But the people dont make alot over there. 90% of the construction is on the beach road area.
the people are the nicest I have ever met. I would move overthere in a heartbeat if it was possible. Most of the insurance and elevation problems are at the beach line 1000 feet inland. Once you cross the RR track its normal life.
