Ok fellas, I’m just about done outfitting the new trailer…for now. I appreciate everyone’s advice and guidance in helping me make this purchase. I’m very happy with my choice and owe that to the folks here, cuz I didn’t have a clue as to what to look for in purchasing a trailer.
Part of why I’m posting pics again, is that I’m having trouble posting ’em. I use an HP digital camera with 2.31 mega-pixels. When I reduce the file sizes to about 600×800 pixels….I end up with crap as you’ll see. I’d think that the quality of the pictures would get better as I downsize and worse when I upsize, but what do I know? The pics look great as 8″ x 10″ on the computer, but not so good downsized. What am I doing wrong? Is 2.3 mega pixels a weak camera? I don’t know as it was a gift.
Because you can’t really tell so good, I’ll fill you in: The picture of the cabinets is an autographed original from ole’ Normy himself. Thought it did him justice hanging there in my trailer. Also I tried to show a close up of where I used D rings and canopy ties. I found those canopy ties to be incredibly handy for securing things around the trailer. I bought a jar of 12 for about ten bucks at HD and went back for more today. I’m using them to wrap cords and hoses now as well. Very handy little items.
Also included a few shots of the service body opened up. This is where all the guns, circ saws, drills and other small power and hand tools nest.
Anyway…here goes nothin’

Sorry gang, pictures are still looking like junk. Any and all advice regarding properly sizing pictures, camera choices etc will be appreciated.

maybe I can shed some light..I shoot at.3.1 or so..MP..my sony goes to 5. somethin..more pics at 3. somethin than higher..and 3. somethin is good enough for posting here..
Down load Irfanview..freebie. open pics with it, and resize to 640x480 and 72 dpi...save as..(fill in the blank)..that will put your newly sized and named pic. in doucuments...find it there, and post it..that should work..even at 2.3 MP..picts. oughtta be ok to see here..as long as you also chose "better quality/slower resize" over "faster/less quality" in Irfanview window..resixe is under the third dropdown box from the left up top..don't have it open so I forget if it is image or not..
keep at it and some other guru will comealong too..<G>

Sphere,
And Firebird too for that matter, thanks for the tip. I'll download Irfanview tonight, it sounds hopeful. I can't change image size directly on my camera, it's about two years old and probably outdated technology by now. Trying to get some use out of it instead of buying a new one. Might be that this is as good as it gets for me now.
Brian,
Are you using Irfanview to downsize?
I think you went too low. I just got a digital and I remember seeing something about sizing them internally in the camera althogh I am sure that not all cameras have this feature.
I've done a few with Irfan but I was not sure exactly what I was doing.
I think CAG or Piffin would be of help here. Good luck with the trailer, I'm green with envy!

by todays standards, 2.x mega pixels is a weak camera, but that doesn't mean you can't get good pics out of it, I have a 3 mega pixel camera, but usually turn that down to save space..
infranview is simple, if you need help ask, at least for sizing the pix.
what res are you shooting the pix at?
can you take a pic of something, anything, at you're best resolution and e-mail it to me?
I'm gonna take you up on your offer bro. Check your email when you get a second.
Diesel pig, I'm far from an expert, but I have played around with computor pictures for a couple of years.
Looking at the pics (love that truck bed, BTW) I'ld have to say that you downsized, reduced resolution and converted to *.jpg all in one move.
All digital photographs are first saved as *.bmp inside the camera. You should always download to the computor as *.bmp with no reduction in size or quality. This will give you the highest quality "original" to work with.
Open the original in almost any photo editor, MS Paint, IrfanView, Paintshop, PhotoShop, etc. and save it under another name (2MyPic.bmp for instance) but keep the .bmp extension. If you check, you will see that the pic is now open under the new name and no changes you make will effect the original.
Now, you should reduce the size to 640x480 (ultimate .jpg size = 50Kb) or 400x300 (40Kb). After reducing the size Save As and select jpg/jpeg and choose "good Quality" or "65% quality". View your desktop and rightclik on the "2MyPic.jpg" and choose "Properties". This will tell you the filesize of your pic. If you get around 40-50Kb, you did good and will have a nice web pic. If its size is too small or large, adjust the quality standard and save it again.
I just finished "Webbing" a series of 7 pics that started as 1.4Mb X 800x600px BMPs and reduced them to 42Kb X 400x300px JPGs Just before logging on to BT.
Those *.jpg sizes are just aproximate as the same pixel size pics can be different file sizes. The seven bmps I sarted with varied in filesize by <=3%. The jpgs by =>24%.

SamT,
I appreciate your much needed advise. It seems that my images are being either converted to .jpg as I am downloading them or are stored as .jps's in my camera. It's an HP camera and I'm using HP Photo Imaging software to download and then resize them. I'm still searching for a way to download them as bitmaps or .bmp images. I'm thinking I'm going to have call HP support if I can find the number. Is it possible that my camera does NOT save them internally as .bmp's? It is an older camera (2yrs).
I downloaded Irfanview today but have yet to install it....maybe this will help and give me some choices of downloading format (.bmp instead of .jpg)
Thanks again for your time.

Awwwwwww mannnnnn. You had to go and make me look like a fool huh? Thanks bud. Email me and teach me a lesson wouldya?
I think it is your .jpg compression that is getting you in trouble. It looks to me like you are saving at maximum compression - don't do that. Reduce the images to 800x600, or even better, 640x480 DPI and save them with the minimum amount of compression. They should be free of the jaggies that are plaguing you right now and still be reasonably sized for posting here.Kevin Halliburton

How did you do that? How can you regenerate his reduced quality attachment? I went to download the much touted Ifranview (or whatever it is) and got bombarded with popups and gave up. I have HP director and usually manage to get mine down to manageable size, even for dialuppers.
New subject:
I guess Roy has finished his purgatory year now. Our daughter graduated from KU, started out in graphic design but did not comprehend how competetive the program was. Ended up graduating in Psychology. Maybe she will forgive him now. Wish them Jayhawks luck, think Bill Self is quite a class act himself.
Diesel sent me a full size file from his camera, I didn't mess with the one's posted here, then I edited it to make sure it would work before I told him I was smarter then him ;).... woulda sucked had I said that and then not been able to produce the image
Yep, Self is a class act, I'm impressed with what he did with the team this year even if they loose the next game. As for Roy, I never got mad at him, it was a business move and a personal move, both of which worked out better for what he wanted out of life, can't fault him for that. What year did your daughter graduate?
That makes sense on the pix, I thought you must really have some super program if you could make that out of what we were seeing.
Daughter is Valerie Smith, 96 grad, dated an archy student from St Louis, Jay Wandersee (sp?).
Think I told you before, we lived in Wichita 10 yrs. We used to go to almost all of WSU games especially during the Eddie Fogler years. Eddie was pretty good coach but not all that class an act. I would usually fly co-pilot on one the company jets to the away games. Usually some of the coaches, AD, or school pres would go or come back with us. Former employer and friend was big supporter until he got Po'd, then I got the midcourt seats behind the president for the home games. Cool days back then. I remember when Jimmy V. came through our little airport on the east side of Wichita when they were trying to get him there.
Agree, we were not mad at Roy, I am sure it was one tough decision that he certainly did not take lightly. Val just wanted to put him in the corner or penalty box for a while. It is still hard for me to cheer for UNC as my family and I went to NCSU. But I have the same feelings about Duke. Daughter wanted to go there, I would really be in debt if that had hapened

Don't mind me....just seeing if I followed what CAG was trying to teach me.
HA!
CAG, you oughta get an award for teaching this idiot!
FWIW....I was using pretty much the same series of steps with HP Imaging as I did with Irfanview. For some reason downsizing was slaughtering the resolution on the HP program. Irfanview worked perfectly. Easy enough too.
Thanks again brother.
congrats!!! Took me awhile too.. Irfanview is the bomb. Nice moulding details,,you do that?
I hope to have some pics soon of my details at the Log Palace soon..but it really suks I gotta go back to dial up..2 days and counting..

oh yeah, that was painted wasn't it? caulk or putty?
hehehe
nice work, both on getting the pics coming and the molding detail, that was pretty sweet..
Bondo, chewing gum....what ever I can use to full those dang miters! Did all that with my wormdrive and 28oz Vaughn wafflehead...........before we stood up the walls. :)
Glad you like 'em!
I the hots for a Valerie something or other, and for some reason smith sounds right...
though she was from St louis and graduated h/s in 96 so, don't worry not your daughter :)
I'm way less than a duke fan, I like their coach, he's a stand up guy, but out of principle I hate the school's teams... I'm not really a UNC fan, but I do like to watch the game's Roy coaches
After our little chat the other night I had an interesting thing happen today. I was in the hospital waiting for my MIL to come out of the recovery room from an elbow replacement and looked down the hall and saw a gray haired gentleman coming down the hall. I told DW to get up quick and look, I was Roy. Wife had on a KU t-shirt daughter got her for Christmas. HE stopped and shook hands. Wife said "can you look at this without getting mad?". He said sure, it was one of his most favorite places in the world. It was obvious he was in a hurry to go see someone, but took the time to be very courteous.
Wife went to school with one of his former assistants, Jerry Green. Called daughter and she now forgives him. Like you said it was the best for him and he did not do it lightly. I was told that he gave up a rather large pot of money boosters had put together to stay, I heard $10 mil. Probably a bar version of an urban legend ( I heard it over more than a couple of pitchers of Margaritas).
