SO here is the prep table for the old folks home Dad and I built.
Just need to varnish the base and oil the top.

Hi Andy,
Mrs. Jet here
Nice to see another generation interested in the finer points of woodworking. The hole is over the garbage can, that's why there's an over hang. The table top is also not centered as there is less overhang over the drawers and more overhang on the other side so you can pull up a "Bar stool" and "sit and chat" or shuck some peas. The residents of the home are not bed bound and still willing and able to help in th kitchen when they wish. The design of the table fits the house perfectly.
My eldest son son (Jet Sr.) Was in charge of turning the table legs on the lathe we bought when the wood shop at school went bust (Their loss, our gain).

Please check out my sons "legs"
This is a family do good project where everyone had fun and we donated a kick A## table in the name of a great man
Audrey- a Happy New Year to you, Bruce, Robert, and Ian, too
Very nice job on that table. Your son's legs look great.
Boy, did that feel weird to type LOL
You should probably put some hardware on the drawers and deliver the piece too.
Nice work.

I was wondering if cookbooks would be pushed up against it from the end, but thought nah....they've get really dirty there. Tray storage might be the deal.
Beautiful project and very nice of you to do it.
Question on the top: Are the boards simply edge glued? I see some marks on one edge that could be for something like allthread rod or similar.

The top was biscuit joined glue up. The only metal in the whole thing are the runners for the drawers and the angles that hold the top on to the base.
Those marks on the side are flaws in the wood I filled with saw dust and glue. Still need to be sanded."No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
Nice work, Bruce. Happy New Year to you and Audrey and the kids.

NIce. Was the top a glue-up that ya'll did, or a pre formed?
No prefab.
We found some great maple at $2,50 a board foot. 16" wide 2 1/4" thick and just over 8 feet long.
The inside of the drawers are melamine for ease of cleaning in a high traffic kitchen."No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
Now that right there is a good price for 10/4 Maple...and the job even better...
Hey buddy!
It's finished!!!!!!!!
Very very nice work, boys.
