Hi all,
I have a front room with 2×6 t&g subfloor. The subfloor elevation is approximately 1/2″ lower than the finished floor in the adjacent room. Is it possible to pour a mortar or thin set floor that is only 1/2″ thick and end up with a solid and stable floor? Has anyone done this and used acid stain? If this would work, what would you suggest as preparation? I was thinking tar paper, mesh, mortar.
Thanks,
Rob

With in the last 1-2 years JLC ran an article on doing just that.
The guy does a thin "slab" over wood and concrete floors just for doing paterned, stamped, and stain concrete finishes.
Go to JLCONLINE.com then Research and you can find the article. There is a nominal cost.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
