Dale and I dealt with windchills cold enuf to freeze snot before it gets outta yer nose. Snow showers on and off all day..but, we was on a mission.
We had to fabricate a new corbel / bracket outta galvanized, and replace the soffit and fascia and crown moulding.
The before shot is actually the other side ( we didn’t think to shoot the side we were on first, duh) But the after is 2 guys and about a full day…eleventy bazillion pop rivets and minor frostbite..LOL
I just bought a new bunch of snips and stuff…glad I did. I joked to Dale..that wood is a HELLUVA lot easier.!!!
This was fun..I like it. (oh, the “nipples” on the corbel are to match some stamped rosettes on the original work..we couldn’t figgure out how to do that, so we formed them outta Geocel..LOL..hey, its way the F up there..once paint is on, no one will know..(G))..
Umm…I got bigger file size if anyone can’t make it out.

Looks good from Washington, Sphere!
Hey, if you don't mind my asking, why did they want that fabricated out of metal? Is the rest of the exterior trim sheet metal?
Free the Sancho!
Yessir..all the cornice and soffit was galvy..with tons o' paint. This place is mebbe, 120 y.o. We saved as much as was possible, the new stuff will get blended in with a REAL good painter I guess.I really like the "new" ness of this work, I have little to no experiance in metal fab of these places..like I said, wood is a LOT easier, but not Hysterically correct.I thank Greencu daily, for the experiance, and curse him for the experiance...LOL.In hindsight, I could not have done that in wood , in the same amount of time, and the same material cost...I don't think. GCu bent up the moldings, we just made it stick to the house. His Forte' and talent makes our work that much mo' betta lookin'..And, it beats the hell outta some of the other work I have seen going on around here.

Way to go duane.
Had the opportunity to repair some of the fancy tin work on an 1800's bldg downtown. Seems the tin was there to replicate old stone work. Good thing to have a good metal bender to back you up. And caulking is indeed trim way up there. Nicely done.

Thanks Cal..looks like tomorrow I get to work right alongside the MASTER..I think we are doing a goofy shaped porch with Cu half round gutter.I see a lot of soldered miters ahead..This metal stuff is getting fun, once ya get the hang of it. I can't get over how crown moulding can appear wrong..then I realized it was inside out...LOLI do like copper a lot better than galvanized fer sure. My forearms are asking me what the hell was I thinking...?(G)
