Thoughts on horizontal slider window
Decided not to replace a 58 x 47 RO with a casement and am thinking about a horizontal sliding window. It’s a bedroom so a dual double hung won’t fulfill egress. Thoughts and recommendations on manufacturer. Would like to stay with a wood window too.
Thanks in advance

Personally love casements. Cooling breezes are either scooped in or sucked out (like the low pressure on the underside of an airfoil) depending on the prevailing breezes. I'm afraid that you'll find the the bedroom and perhaps the whole home hot as a result of using sliders.
The only reason that I'd deviate from a casement (to double hung) is if I owned an historically accurate home.--but never a slider.
Just my 2 cents.

I think casements are better as well, but can look a bit on on an older style home where traditional double hung are used. One of my window sales reps once told me that a casement is the most efficient functional window as they tend to have a longer, more robust locking mechanism and the wind pushes window tight to the gasket making a tight seal. I kind of always took his word for it, haven’t really researched it. I will say on projects I’ve done they tend to seal the best. Also, when you open all the way they have full opening for the breeze vs a slider or double hung which typically only allows half of the window opening. Per square inch you get more unobstructed egress opening size as well compared to the same size slider or hung. My preference is always a casement, generally speaking.
