April should be a fantastic time to go there.

Museums are free on Sundays and the view from atop the arc de triomphe is killer at night.

cab costs fifty to eighty euro one way from the airport into the city proper and they don't take credit cards (at least ours did not.)You can catch a train for around twenty euro a person. We had four people and fifty thousand pounds of baggage -we nearly had to hire a freighter...

side walk cafes were great as were the little neighborhood bars

        glad youlike the pics

    Pics are always good.

Some descriptions of what we're looking at would help though. Some things are obvious, like the Eifel Tower. But there are other things that I have no clue about.

      hey Boss,

okay skip the tower for the moment

these are pics from the place we stayed

      4th floor walk up

      it was pretty cool inside

had a half round plate steel wall in the kitchen that I forgot to take a picture of.

great little loft area with huge roof windows looking out over the street that I forgot to take a picture of

groovy full bath -all the hot water and pressure you didn't think you could get out of tankless- with well thought out storage and amenities that I forgot to take a picture of

        street scene outside our place

we stayed in the Montparnasse area so climbing out of our metro stop the Montparnasse Tower greated us

the metro is your key to the city

cheap enough, clean enough, safe enough, goes everywhere...

we got a two day hop on hop off bus pass and rode around one complete loop to map out things to go back and see

it was like a hundred below zero out the first day and I left my carharts at home with all my other space age ultra lite super duper cutting edge keep me warm clothes.

  3. andybuildz | Jan 12, 2010 04:45pm | #5

Hey...when you were there...did you find out when they're finally gonna complete that tower thingy?

    Shakes? Vinyl siding? Hardie?

Hub - we were in Paris in May and stayed at L'Hotel Lenox Montparnasse, very close to where you were (on la Rue Delambre). I think it was our absolute best trip to Paris ever.

Nice pics - we did the catacombs too, they think that there are > 6,000,000 bodies there

My daughter and I went on to Egypt after that ... will do a thread on that in the near future.

          Hey Jeff,

not a bad neighborhood that. (Montparnasse) We enjoyed our stay there.

I loved Paris which came as a surprise because I am a small town, know everybody, USA kind of guy.

Here are a few more shots

musee d'orsay and a couple from the tower

            hubcap | Jan 14, 2010 09:54am | #16

I told my son the musee was a fine example of the impact of cast iron in the design of late 19th century buildings and he was gracious enough to pretend to be interested.

            shots from the tower

Hub, I looked at a couple pictures the other day with no problem.

Tonight I sit here and watch the load thing spin around after opening one and then making it bigger............................

whoa, had to go in the other room to see the other side of the photo.

In the future, could you tone down the MB's a bit.

            thanks.

            .

            .

Did you realize that the Royal Gateway (gold fence at Versailles) was recently completely restored from old engraving views/drawings at a cost of > 6,000,000 Euros?

Why you posting pics of some socialist haven here?

  6. User avater
    hubcap | Jan 15, 2010 08:05am | #27

    "blah blah blah socialist haven..."

It is part of my hidden agenda to subvert the collective intelligence of breaktimers Ted. Soon you will feel compelled to make me your King and I will be as powerful as Oprah.

I promise to be a benevolent diety and hardly ever release a plague or pestilence upon the land. (kind of an old testament "lite" if you will.) And I will always take care of my people.

But everyone must buy in. Don't ruin this Ted...
