OK….this didn’t get any play on the main page….so we’ll try again but in here. I’m in the market for a new tile cutter. 2 bar snap/score.
Down to 2 cutters. Either Ishi or Rubi.
Ishi says they’re the original 2 bar snapper……….Rubi looks to be built like a tank, comes in a nice case…..and has some “punch tool” that it comes with. To those in the know…..is this punch tool what I’d hope it would be…and some sorta punch that’ll allow me to “easily” punch a hole for supply lines in the center of a tile?
Any other thoughts on these two? Need one big enough for 13″ tile on the diagonal. Leaning toward the Rubi………..the hand-crank hole saw would be a nice addition too. Thanks, Jeff

I've had a Rubi for years. Never even noticed the other one. My Rubi came with 3 cutters. I've never even used two of them. I originally bought a Rubi to cut Triad tile from the despicable company known as Wanke Cascade. Triad had a rep of requiring a wet saw to cut. My Rubi cut it just fine.
So Ishi? Rubi: damn nice tile cutter.
Small diameter holes in tile? masonry drills and rod saw.

I got the hole saws and the rod .....but that hand crank attachment thing just looks too cool!
I'm wondering how well it'll cut thru floor tile.......I've been running into running the floor tile up the shower walls. Looks great, but a....uh....hard to drill thru. Have been buying job specific carbide as pretty much throw-aways. Next job might be time to step up to the diamond tip hole cutter. Jeff "That's like hypnotizing chickens........."
Jeff what happened to that wet saw ya just bought? Darkworksite4: When the job is to small for everyone else, Its just about right for me"
still running great. But for straight cuts.......especially those that will get hidden under a toe kick or base shoe and thresholds.....ya can't beat the speed and no-mess of a good snap cutter.
I got used to using the wet saw on a few jobs where I could set it up right out side of the room......then ran into one with new hardwood installed everywhere...and had to set up outside.....so I broke out the old cutter....and remembered how well it works to have it right along side ya as you work.
Still need the wet saw for goofy cuts. But a good snap cutter will leave an edge clean enough for finish on most tiles.....without the water splashing all over the place. Jeff "That's like hypnotizing chickens........."
I know when your bent over on your knee ( no wise cracks) its a pain to get up and run out side ,when you can just use the snap cutter and continue on. I was funning ya about the wetsaw. Darkworksite4: When the job is to small for everyone else, Its just about right for me"
then if you was kidding....uh...it rusted! Jeff Genius has it's limits.....but stupidity knows no bounds
