tile floor uncoupling from substrate

I am about to tile a walk-out basement floor in a high-end home and I am seeking advice. The slab is 6 months old and in great condition (no cracks, etc.) and has cut joints every 12′. I will be laying 20″ ceramic tile around the perimeter of each of the rooms with the center done in carpet. My question is…should I lay the tile directly on the slab using thinset OR should I use one of the newer decoupling pads btween the tile and the concrete slab? Thanks, rick in colorado

Decoupling and Coupling??? That's a first.
Generally, I'd say yes, use the 'decoupling' material. The thin sheet, single layer fabric stuff will not do the job, use the thicker material to actually isolate the upper layer from the bottom layer. Use Slueter(sp) strips to transition to carpet.
