Tile in rooms other than bath, kitchen

Has anyone here ever done a bedroom, living room, den etc in ceramic tile or slate? Seems to me that It would hurt resale in most cases but I’ve seen a few rooms done this way that look good.
So is Tile ever used “elsewhere”

I've done an entire basement in Tile, I didn't care for it much the client liked it.
I've seen several entry's completed in all forms of tile and home offices and den's with granite and marble.
Tile entries are common here (I even have one), and next week I'm starting a cabinet job in a semi-mansion with tile everywhere except the kitchen (hardwood) and living room (white carpet). It's all 12" marble - kind of a creamy white. I WILL be using drop cloths - lol.
Rental houses in college towns. You'll find it everywhere.
Here in florida most houses are tiled throughout these days. They'll maybe carpet the bedrooms and tile everything else. I'm seeing less and less carpeting all the time.
It was really hard for me to get over how foriegn it looked when I first moved from up north, but I'm starting to not be quite so repulsed by it.
Me personally, I hate tile, and it has little to do with just being from an area that leans more heavily toward carpet. Tile just makes a house feel cold, harsh, and not very homey. To me anyway.... It's like walking into a dentist's office or a grocery store.
I've tiled an:
1). Office - 385sqft
2). Guest house living, dining and kitchen - 450sqft
3). Basement - kind of a poolroom place - 420sqft

I've tiled a 1200sf house with Saltillo tiles. Look very good, IMO. Sure, the chairs wobble, the finish may not last, and they'll be the dickens to rip up, but it's what the HO wanted, and are expecting to 'age in place', so resale didn't factor in. But...beware of the mythical buyer!! Do what you d*amn well please, and there's a good chance that it'll be exactly what someone else wants.
(Eg...In the house we just bought there's all sorts of paint finishes - sponge, rolled, glazed, and a striped bathroom the husband figured we'd paint right out. Far from it - the place doesn't need a thing doing to it. 'Cos we liked it the way they wanted it)
All the best...
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
