I am looking for info about laying ceramic tile over ceramic tile. it is a remodeling of a bathroom that has 1×1 ceramic that is well adhered to 1.5″ gypcrete over wood framing. The new tile is going to be 6×6 or 8×8. I am loath to tear up this tile because the gypcrete will come up with it.
What adhesive should be used? The laticrete rep recommended Laticrete 254 Platimum a portland cement thinset and to be usre the existing tile is clean. What size notched trowel? Shoud the tile be back buttered?
It it that simple? Any advice ro thooughts are welcome.

It is very simple, if the existing tile is still well adhered, and if you have the clearance to add a layer of flooring. Checjk the mfgr websites for info on what adhesive to use. I know Mapei has some that are recommended, I forget which bag it is.
