I know that the Schluter shower system has been talked about here quite a bit, but I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Tile-Redi shower tray, as an alternative. It seems like it would be a whole lot easier for a total novice like me. I’ve also found something called Tile Basin by KBRS. Anyone ever use it?

Tile Redi looks intrigueing. I just saw their ad in a plumbing journal. Haven't used it though.
We just did a Tile Redi pan. It's OK. I prefer the flexibility of a mud bed or Kerdi base over building to the pan.
You must use Latapoxy 300 thinset to stick tiles to the pan (that you need to scuff up), have all your tiles cut and ready to go as you have about 45minutes before the catalyst starts to kick in.
Latapoxy 300 is quite pricey and might be hard to find, it comes in a kit- pre-measured resin, catalyst and powder and is a one shot deal. The 100(?) series kit is enough to tile the pan, the 200 kit(2 100 kits) cost about $130. Wear gloves, and have a fan going for ventilation.

The awful thing is that beauty is mysterious as well as terrible. God and the devil are fighting there, and the battlefield is the heart of man.

"Early" in my career, we did epoxy sets all the time. This was pre-thinset days.
A 3 gallon tub contained one gallon each of epoxy and hardener, and a bag of mortar.
Talk about a rock solid floor! Can't recall the smell, but cleaning up was a bear![email protected]
