Tileboard vs. Fiberglass Reinforced Pane

Hi Everyone,
Have an apartment where the original tile job (that is otherwise in fine condition) only is tiled up about 42″ above the top of the tub, which is too low. Many years ago my father installed 2′ of tileboard (the stuff that would be cut to size, fitted/siliconized with plastic molding and then glued to the wall) above the tile surround to better protect the walls. The material has started to deteriorate and needs to be replaced after about 20 years. Normally, I’d go for a complete tile replacement, but there is an existing tenant in the place, and we’d need to be in-n-out in a day, two max.
I don’t care for the use of tileboard, but I was at HD and next to this tileboard stuff, there is this Fiberglass Reinforced Panels (FRP), the stuff I seem to see in a lot of commercial bathrooms. It seems better then tileboard, and although it does not specify that it be used in a tub surround, I thought I’d ask if anyone else here has used it in that capacity.
I’ve even though of purchasing one of those PVC 3-piece tile surrounds and cutting it to fit my needs. I know this is not fine homebuilding, but I can’t let the tenant be without their bathroom for more then a day.
Any thoughts or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tark

FRP would work, but it will look like the inside of a restroom in a gas station. The joints will be where you have to pay attention.
The 3 piece tub surround would look much better.

thanks for responding. I'm thinking a three piece cut down for this purpose would be best. Eventually when the tenant leaves, I'll be looking a new tile job.
