I am replacing my 10’x40′ second story deck. I was planning on using 2″x8″x10′ joists every 24″. With a 4″x12″ beam being supported by 4″x6″s every 8 feet. Then sheeting it with 1 1/8″ t&g exterior plywood. On top of that I was going to put a rubber pvc coating, but after pricing this out I was shocked to find out how epensive it is. So now I am thinking about tiling it with ceramic floor tile or a cheap slate. My question, do I have the support to do this? Can I install the tile in a manner as to protect the plywood underneath, even though it is exterior I know it wont hold up on its own? Thanks for any advice.
