bathroom remodel: is it better to install the metal channel for the glass shower door first, onto the drywall/cementboard, and tile up against it on either side, or tile first and lay the channel on top of the tile, drilling through the tile or grout to screw the channel in place?

Shel- Do your tile work first, then install the metal frame on top and caulk edges. A LOT less tile cutting that way, assures better caulking/sealing from water, will be a cleaner looking job, gives you flexibility to locate the metal, and will make it a LOT easier to replace the door if and when necessary. -Ken
*Just in case a late decision is made to install a frameless glass door, make sure there is some meat behind the area of attachment so the hinge screws have somewhere to go. A couple extra 2 bys in line with the curb will make you the hero of the day.
