What is the “real” story on tiling ceilings. I was in a steam room today, and there were 2×2 tiles on the ceiling. I cannot wrap my mind around how the tiles don’t sag as you are installing them. I have a shower job coming up and the client wants me to tile the ceiling the 12×12 tile. There is no way these are gonna stay up unless I brace them with supports, and that is just gonna be a mess and hugely time consuming. Please help me out if you can. I would go to John Bridge, but I seldom go there and find it almost impossible to sign in when I do.

2x2s are on a 12x12 sheet - or larger
mix the thinset to the right consistency and no serious problem
butter the ceiling butter the tile, like pif said get the mix right. ie;just a touch past peanut butter, with enough just enough moisture to make em stick.
I thought mastic rather than thin set???
