I’m remodeling a bathroom and have a problem of my own creation. The bathroom has a tub / shower configuration with a window on the long wall. I replaced the window and used PVC trim around it but didn’t consider how I was going to apply tile up to the widow casing? The casing around the window is flush with the 2 x 4 wall (before backerboard, thinset, and tile). See photo.
I’m going to use 1/2 inch backerboard, thinset, then 1/4 inch tile so I need just under 1 inch of some sort of transition at this window. (In retrospect I could have extended the casing an inch or so but it’s too late for that). I have looked at various transition pieces but can’t find one to work.
How do I tile this and make it look right?
Thanks.

Hopefully you put some tip on those bottom transitions.
And if you don’t want to take it apart and frame and install a tile return….
Bring the rest out in pvc so it works for your wall build up and trim with tile, forget pvc casing.
If it were me I’d opt for tile returning into the frame of the window.
You can use some PVC biscuits and pvc glue if you have or can get your hands on a biscuit joiner.
If you like, you can make your add-on a little longer so it sits proud of the tile surface.
Up to you if you want to tile up to the edge, or plan on trim around the window that sits over the tile
Since your casing is flush with the wall, you'll need a smart transition plan. One option is to use a thin strip of matching trim or bullnose tile to bridge the gap between the casing and your tiled wall.
Another idea could be to carefully cut your tiles to fit around the casing, creating a clean and seamless look. Just make sure to measure everything precisely before cutting to avoid any mishaps. Good luck with your tiling project!
