Tips on repairing ceiling bulging drywall joints

I want to fix my cabins ceiling drywall. Some of the joints are not level. Whats the best way to fix this without replacing all the drywall? Here are some pictures.

You appear to have a buckled ceiling. Moisture appears to have played a part in this, as also the apparent wide spacing between ceiling joists. First, any repair work needs to take into account how both natural and artificial light impact the appearance of the ceiling. The ceiling is the most unforgiving of all indoor surfaces, revealing every little flaw.
If you are unwilling to tear down the ceiling and start over, I think you will need to install furring strips. Spacing will depend on the material to be installed. If your ceiling were not as badly buckled as shown I could recommend leveling-type fixes...but not on this one, because the buckling extends beyond the joints. In other words, you will see low and high points on the ceiling after joints have been repaired and "leveled".
