Just watched the home inspector show.
found the wax ring under toilet leak floor ruined problem.
I am not a plumber, but wax rings seem really stupid.
What do they use in Europe/Australia?japan – anyone know?

The last toilet I installed in endland had a "p" type of trap and a 3-4" passage for the waste to go through. Joints were sealed by an "O" ring and the toilet is screwed to the floor. The flush is two stage, press and release the handle for short flush or press and hold for long flush. Don't remember ever having a clog but I did'nt have kids at that time. The passage in a US toilet seems very small to me and almost all are "S" trap style which adds a lot of corners to travel.
While it's possible the wax leaked, I doubt that was the problem, there are millions installed.I'm willing to bet that the flange is either to high or to low. Real common when the bathroom has a new subfloor or tiles installed but the flange isn't raised up to match the new floor. The flange is supposed to sit on top of the finished floor.
wax rings suck.
I don't use them anymore.
for 50 bucks I will tell you what I use.
kidding.
Fluidmaster makes the best on the market now.
Stinking Homie even sells them.
But I buy them for 2 bucks less than Homie charges.

England and Australia use a ribbed rubber insert which fits in the collar of the 4" waste pipe and accepts the outlet of the toilet.
As was said before, the usual throw of the toilet is a P trap, left or right-hand outlet most often to connect to a T in the 4" waste pipe which continues rising to terminate as a vent through the roof.
