Hi.
I have a Porter-Cable 6931 router base that I like. I’ll be moving to Australia soon and would like to take my router with me.
I have found a heavy-duty transformer that will convert the 220 VAC Australian current to 110 VAC, and it is rated to handle the load of the router.
However, I am concerned about the frequency down there. Australian AC is 50 cycles (Hertz), while U.S. electricity is 60 cycles. Will this cause any problem, or shorten the life of my motor? Or is the 6931 motor a “universal” motor (I believe a universal motor can handle either frequency).
Thank you.
Best regards,
Dave

Yes, it is a universal motor. You won't have any problems.
Thanks for that.
What about the Hitachi C10FS SCMS? It's a more powerful tool. Would that be a universal motor? How do you tell, anyway?
