The “What tool did you buy today” discussion gave me the idea for this one.
I would like to know about some of the good mail order companies or online tool sites that you like? I tend to use tool crib alot. Any thoughts?

One of the better tool review sites that I have found. It may not be the most up to date but it seems to cover most types of tools I use and most of the better models available. The buyers guides are good and the reviews are detailed and fairly exhaustive. The reviews are written by people in the building trades and represent as are about as good a real world test as I have read.

If I buy mail order I usually go to Toolcribof thenorth.com , They sell through Amazon.com. I like them cause they have great customer service and I call them up and talk to themand buy over the phone ILO putting my card on the net(Im still a little nervous about that) also other than some Internet companies, I have a human to talk to if there is a problem. I'm still waiting for my Bosch 4000 table saw from Amazon.com. I agreed to them sending it by mule train so it is still on schedule. Hey it's free. Amazon seemed to be the most reasonable outlet for price and the information was OK. "Tools of the trade" was better for information only. They don't sell products. I like that.
Here's one I've used for new and factory rebuilt tools. http://www.toolsforless.com The factory rebuilt units come with a new tool warranty and I've had good luck with all tools to date. If you are looking for rebuilts and don't see the one you need, check back later as the selection varies. Good prices on new units also.

One source that I can say be very careful about is the Sears Tool Catalogue. Some items are carried by the larger stores but there are many tools/accessories carried only in the catalogue. Make sure you get the final price before agreeing to the purchase.
I wanted to buy a 20 ft. by 2.5 inch plastic shop vac hose for $19.99. Tax is 5% for the order or $1. I was told the final cost would be just under $38! That means approximately $17 for shipping and handling for a 5 lb. hose. Needless to say I didn't order it. And I have experienced these exorbitant charges before - be wary of Sears mail order.
I've recently bought from Ballew Tools (http://www.ballewtools.com). Both times I found them to be cheaper than any other site, including Amazon. As a bonus, you can speak to a real live person that sends your order out on the same day and appreciates your business. The Vega fence I ordered last Monday was delivered on Thursday - now that's express delivery (and it was included in the price). I'll shop there every time I get the chance.
You might try Coastal Tool at coastaltool.com. Large selection and prices seem reasonable.
