I think the recent tool review should have included the Craftsman Shop Vac – My 16 gallon, 6.5HP “Big Red” has been in regular service for years and out-lived the Big Box competion. It performs well and doubles as a leaf and debris blower, which none of the other vacs reviewed can match. I keep two filters on hand, one dedicated for wet work – This also lets me use the vacuum to clean my filter(s). I also stretch a pair of panty hose over the filter to keep most of the dust out of the filter. For $120, this should be included as a best-buy.

That may be so, however.............
How's it do in the ear deafening test and of course-any chance it has a "real" hepa filter?
Does it tip over like my ancient, used only to vac out the van/car craftsman Green one?
Is the cord stiff as a board in cold weather?
thanks.
I have one of thos vacs with the 2" hose. If it gets blocked it collapses and jerks the vac at me at high speed, that is if it doesn't flip on its side first. UGGGH!
