Matt’s thread has so many posts, I figured I would start another. I don’t have all the really cool power tools he had, but I have a bunch of smaller stuff I’d be interested in trading. None of it is really worth much $, so a trade is probably the better option.
Old School Handsaws:
I have a number of saws for any of you hand tool junkies…
Disston London 12, 5 point rip. blade’s clean and straight, decent etch, rosewood handle with top horn chipped.
Disston large backsaw for miter box use
Sandvik 12 point, shorter saw, fairly thick blade, dark stained handle with gold leafing
Wards Master small panel saw with hacksaw teeth. Never seen another one of these, it’s more of a collector type saw. Got it out of my grandfather’s shop when we moved him to a home.
No name 12″ backsaw, refiled to rip.
Other random stuff:
Dewalt 9.6 volt impact driver, tool only. Actually a great tool, batteries died after 5 years of hard use. I replaced it with a Milwaukee so I would only have to carry one charger. If you already have batteries… I might have a charger, too.
Occidental Leather hammer holder (5012) and tape holder, can’t find the model #, but it is a match for the hammer holder. Hammer holder lightly used, tape holder never.
Small Japanese drawknife with handmade leather sheath. See it here http://japanwoodworker.com/product.asp?s=JapanWoodworker&pf_id=05%2E102%2E214&dept_id=13217
Bucket Boss zip-up tool bag with rubber bottom, can’t find a pic. It used to hold my drill and impact, charger, drill index, box of other bits. It has an outside pocket with a ton of slots to hold bits.
L and IJ White 3″ slick with cherry handle I turned myself. Not entirely sure I want to part with it. It’s a tie to my boatbuilding past, but a great offer might sway me. I also have a couple brass bound, 2′ 4-fold rules from my boatbuilding days.
If anyone is looking for a short throw brace, eggbeater drill, or push drill, I might be able to help you out there as well.
Anyway, just throwing this stuff out there before I go nuts one weekend trying to find something in the shop and put it all out in front of the house with a “Free” sign on it.

Vanderpooch,
You told us what you have. Now tell us what sort of stuff you would like in trade for it...other handtools? back issues of FHB? What do you want or need?
Bill
Edit: I have a drawknife like the one you offer, and it is very nice, although mine has no sheath. I might be interested in an eggbeater drill, though a breast drill is more attractive.

Bill and Eddie,I'm pretty much your classic finish carpenter tool junkie, so I wouldn't say there is really anything I NEED. Honestly, I'm pretty much wide open, so throw some stuff out there. Router bits, hand tools, your old FHB idea's a good one. I do have some gaps in my collection.Oh, I also have a couple nice 10" miter saw blades and no longer have a 10" saw...I am looking for a butt mortise plane and a Rali block plane, but those are worth more than any of my old junk...Eddie, I've finally gotten to a one charger/battery platform, so the impact is a no go.- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens

I wish you weren't 1700 miles from me. I would like to see the large back saw. But I will pass. It would just be another tool to trip over in my shop.
I have a collection of used Makita 9.6 volt tools looking for a good home. All my batteries are long since dead. But if you still use the Makita 9.6 V system, I have the following available:
Drill with battery charger in a nice metal case
Right angle drill
Small panel saw, complete with worn out rusty blade
2 battery chargers
I would be willing to part with these for the cost of shipping if anybody out there has a good use for them.
Experienced, but still dangerous!

Planeman,I would love the right angle drill. I still use a couple 9.6 volts as my shop drivers.- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
It's yours, just send me an e-mail with the shipping info and I will get it on it's way. Do you need any battery chargers?

Planeman,Got the tools and sent you an envelope. Thanks so much. I know I'll be using that right angle driver for my cabinet installs.- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
Thanks Kit, glad they found a good home, enjoy.

First dibs on the draw knife and one folding rule. What do you need?
I have a makita impact driver that has been well used, with one newish battery and a charger. 12v I think, but have to check. The battery is probably worth more than the driver.

Its about dam time. My project has been at a complete standstill waiting for the shipment. I have had to spend all my slack time on BT just to have something to do.

I'll tag along
I have a garage full of stuff. Miscellaneous hand tools for starters. Strap nailer. Hilti laser. Painting gear. Drywall lift. router, small shaper, bosch tablesaw, angle grinders, disk sanders, - really too much to even think about. But I dont see much of it being really worth shipping.
So if you're near Lincoln, NE, shout. You can come look. I'll trade for cash, and I'd trade for high end hand planes. LN, bedrocks in good shape, etc.

All right,
I'm gonna post some pics to try and entice more of you out of the woodwork...
beautiful handsaws you got there. how much do you think for that dark brown handled one w/ white/silver etching?
what about that other medium dark handled on w/ the un painted etching on it
Can you hold the laser level while I shave?

Andy,For the Sandvik (shorter saw with the ribbony silver decoration on the handle) I'd go $18 plus shipping. The big Disston is more of a collectors piece or for a serious user. It's a very coarse rip saw. Let me mull that one over. The Sandvik is a sweet saw, skew ground and breasted, and short enough to be practical to carry around... The teeth need a touch up, but no major remodeling. You on Spring Break?- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace StevensEdited 3/21/2008 2:49 pm by vanderpooch

Box arrived today. Cool stuff. I'll drop a check in the mail Monday.
I was all excited ... there was a cardboard carton inside the shipping box with Festool labels and pictures on it. I thought ... oh boy ... he threw in something extra ... from festoll no less! Dang ... nothing but packing material."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson

hey, just wondering what's happening with Sandvik Saw?
There's enough youth in this world, how 'bout a fountain of SMART??!!
Andy,I haven't forgotten you, just haven't had time to box it up and get it to the Post Office. This week, though, I promise.- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
ok, just checking, take your time
There's enough youth in this world, how 'bout a fountain of SMART??!!
All right, Andy.I finally got your saws in the mail today. My apologies for taking so long. Just haven't had the time to wait in line at the PO.I did send them priority, though, so should be middle to end of next week. Have fun with 'em. The back saw is filed rip. It'll get you started cutting dovetails in softer woods if you're inot that kind of thing. The Sandvik is decently sharp. If you want to get good, draw a bunch of lines on a 2x6 and go to town.- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
I'm behind getting things boxed up as well..had a huge influx of "Gotta do's" happen at once, and weather messing with my scheduling.
Driver SHOULD leave here Monday..if the box didn't get scarfed up by the DW..we been fighting over shipping boxes of late.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Jim,Sphere gave me the idea. Too dumb to think that up on my own. It breaks my heart to have good tools collecting dust. That's why I figured on trading some things out.Staying busy?- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
"Busy"?
Yeah, but I have always had more interests than time to pursue them. Seems like time gets more valuable to me each year.
Getting ready to build a new shop. That's pretty exciting. I'll eat your peaches, mam. I LOVE peaches!
got the package today!! thanks so much that really was express. check will be a comin' soon. question, is the slight curve in the top edge of the Sandvik blade style or function.
Also, I really did need a backsaw like that thanks for putting it in
BTW is Dixieline lumber co. your local store?
Look ma, no jigs!!!
Andy,Don't worry about a check. Save your money for tools and wood.Dixieline is our local all around lumber yard. There are five or six around San Diego county. The curve on the top of the saw is purely a design thing. If you look closely at the toothed edge, you'll notice a slight curve there as well. This is called a breasted edge. If I recall correctly, it makes the saw easier to push...Don't know how much of an old tool junkie you are, but here's a couple cool sites to check out.http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/http://www.vintagesaws.com/Enjoy the tools,- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
thanks, I actually do need that money for a new TS, sears doesn't have that one part I need.
cut my first hand dovetail joint with the backsaw. turned out ok. Of couse not perfect, but I'll keep trying.

I like that slick.
I do to. It's a relic from the boatbuilding days, but I never use it and I'd like someone to have it who would. Pretty cool tool.- KitTechnique is proof of your seriousness. - Wallace Stevens
Yep.. Now that I am retired I have been giving some of my tools away. I have a grandson in law who does very good woodworking. I sent him some stuff and I am sure he will make good use of it.
