Nailing a dimensional shingle to 1/2″ OSB. Coil nailer or stapled roof? Which is your preference. Staples seem to hold mch better. And the re-load! No comparison, Semco stapler hands down.

Don't do a ton of roofs.....but I'm not a fan of staples in general. Sheathing, maybe.

I don't think in my area they allow staples for shingles at all. I know I like stapled roofs for tear-offs, grab the rake edge and pull up the shingles a square at a time. I wouldn't use staples on any roof or sheathing.
Friend of mine's house was stapled and in the past
1yr I've been there 3 times replacing/renailing shingles
that have come loose or blown away.
I don't think (but could be wrong) that the any shingle manufactuers approve of stapled installations anymore, do they?
Regardless, roofing nails all the way. A properly driven roofing nail will outperform a staple in highwinds any day. IMO, stapled shingles just blow off too easily.
Ask any roofer who has ever torn off stapled shingles. They are easy to pull. I would not allow them - neither do some states.
