Toothbrush in toilet

munson01 | Posted in General Discussion on December 18, 2007 10:15am

Yeah, I think I saw this on Seinfeld once! Hello to all and thanks for all the help you provide to us novices. Well a few days ago my 2 yr old threw his toothbrush into the toilet, then my 3 yr old followed up with a flush. Now the toilet is very slow to fill up and not all material makes it down on one flush. Its not affecting any other toilets in the house. I’ve got the shop vac out and got all the water out, tried reaching as far as I can up there and cant reach anything. My only other guess is to take the toilet out and try it from the other side. But I still wont be able to reach up that far cause it takes a 90 deg bend after about 2 inches. So my question is, do I need to get an auger and run that thing up in there till it hits the toothbrush, or just get a snake? It seems like I need something to grab the brush and pull it out, not just push it out. Any ideas? Once again, thanks for the help in advance.

I clicked on the thread thinking, "Gunner is so grateful for our brotherly support in his toothbrush in toilet thread that he's hosting the next fest to thank his buds at BT."Bill (edited for typo)

I think lots of times newbies post and then can't find their posts (especially when they end up in Breaktime Fests).

so let's gp over to the Op's place...

crank up a fest... use the terlit for the central trianing aide....

and make suggestion as to how to fix his terlit...

Boy you really want to scare him away, don't you? Just the sight of several of us at his door would be enough to send him into shock (or for his shotgun).

Welcome--you must be new! First, you probably should have posted your question under "General Discussion" or something, but maybe the Sytem Operator will move it. I don't think you can move it, and if you post again, you'll just confuse people.

Second--this very question was asked recently and got a lot of discussion. You may be able to find the discussion by going to the top of the place where it lists all the discussions and click on "advanced search" and when it asks for words to match, try "toothbrush" or "toilet." It was still listed in the discussions yesterday, I think, so you can narrow the search down to that time period.  Good luck. Others are more web site savvy and can tell you which discussion and how to bring it up by number, maybe.

I thought we were unusually restrained, so I don't think it was us that scared him away! ;-)

Maybe after Sysop moved the thread, the OP wasn't able to find it again (as you said).

(When I first saw the post I thought, holy smokes, did someone reopen Gunner's thread and move it! Fun though it was, once was enough!)
