Hi,
I’m in search of a router bit to match the one shown on page 51 of the
December/January issue of FH. I’m getting ready to route a groove in
the hardwood flooring that I’m currently installing. I’ve searched the
usual places and can’t find one. Anyone own a groove bit that’s
top-bearing, cuts a 1/4″ wide X 1/4″ deep groove?
THX,
Larry

They sell whiteside bits, good bits. Cant find it here then i dont know where to send someone for bits. THey are typically called template bits if the bearing is on the top
CMT will also make topbearing bits in this size. dont have a site handy though.
*CMT's website, which includes their catalog in pdf format, is http://www.islandsaw.com.Dan MacD
*Hi,I've looked at their sites, and unfortunately, I can't locate a "top bearing" groove cutter which doesn't have a locking nut on the bottom. I hadn't realized that it wouldn't be an obvious choice.Doing a google search on slot cutters or templatecutters didn't yield the answer either.Does anyone from FH feel like asking the author for us (me)? Thanks,Larry
*I'll find out tomorrow.Andy
*Hi Larry- I usually get these bits from our flooring distributor.Otherwise, you can get them here - http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/bt_slot.htmlScroll to the bottom of the page for top bearing bits.Hope this helps.Mike
*Larry, Charlie Peterson gets the bit here:http://www.harvesterfloors.com/catalog/tools%20sub/bits.html
*Thank you very much! I've ordered my router bit. FWIW, FHomebuilding has been instrumental to me designing and executing a 3200ft^2 addition on the side of my house. While I hired out the site work, poured concrete and brick veneer I've done the rest with the help of my wife and friends. Taunton Press has played a major role in making this possible.(www.ee.cua.edu/~schuette/house
*Larry, glad we could help. I don't have the time right now to check out the url, but I intend to get to it.Andy
