What is the proper way to tie the two pieces of valley “W” style at the top where they meet? I have done some research and haven’t found any info on the proper way to tie the two together. The roof I’m using it on is my first application of the “W” valley. Attatched are three pics of the top of the valley that is already installed. Thanks…

It's like origami. Make a cut along the middle of the metal valley ending at where the ridge meets the main roof, let one leg run up the main roof and fold the other over the ridge, you will have to make another cut to make the piece over the ridge lie neat and flat on the other side. Do the same with the opposite valley.
You'll end up with overlapping flashing on the main roof and the ridge but you have a weak spot where the ridge meets the main roof. You can seal it with roofing cement but I prefer a piece of membrane or ice and water shield. Then you weave the ridge shingles and the courses of shingles above the ridge to cover the membrane.
Hope this helps.
Cfullen,
the next FHB is probably gonna have an answer to this question------ but in advance of that
what we do here is pretty much like has already been described in this thread---------------------- however----- we then ridge cap the dormer---and run the caps right across the top of the valley and UNDER the shingles on the main roof EXACTLY like you would when doing a closed cut valley. There is really no mystery to it and the joint ends up well protected. You can gently peen the top few inches of the center ridge in the valley flat to get the ridge caps to lay smoother-----but generally I haven't found that necissary.
