Looking for framer in the GTA(greater toronto area). Currently working on medium sized residential homes north of the city. Very busy right now and no end in sight. Looking for a Framer with experience to join our crew and contribute effectively to our team. Must have at least 1 year of experience.
Thanks to all.

What's the pay like up there anyways in Toronto? I live in Newfoundland and just about everyone with a trade is going to Alberta. This has caused a shortage of carpenters in the city as well in small town area where I live. This has in turn caused wages for carpenters to rise a lot. Still in all contractors have to pay more for employees or they'll leave the province. I never hear of anyone going to Toronto for work nowadays.

Nope, same here in Cape Breton....it's all Alberta bound. A lot of them come back though....nowhere to stay, tons of other problems. Some of the local guys say they are now paying the same or better as Alberta (may be fibbing though).Cabinetmaker/college woodworking instructor. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
I can't speak for CANFRAME, but in general framers will get anywhere from $18-25 here in Toronto.
There is a real shortage I'm finding in Toronto area as well. I can't find anyone who wants to even start out at 15$/hr for knowing nothing. So i try to skip the learning process and jump to a 25$/hr guy who can at least build some stuff on his own and contribute something. Anyone who has more than 6 years usually is paid around 30$/hr just to keep them happy.
There are a lot of companies looking for framers right now in Toronto and no shortage of work for those companies. My union has a booklet of companies looking for framers, I was located on the 8th page which means I probably won't get a call till about 2009. Real shortage of workers right now!
Are you looking for subs or hourly guys. We occasionally will come to help crews...move. We have helped small companies run big jobs we can organize to get thing done faster, we can work with your crew or on our own. If your in a bind sometimes we are able to fill in for a week to keep people off of your back. Prefer to work north west Toronto, currently around Younge and Eglinton. If you should ever come across a project that may be a little to big for one crew, we may be able to help provide the man power to pick up bigger jobs. After completion, we go our own ways. Currently we have two sister crews that we use every year or two to take on a big job. Of course if you don't know me I can't assume you'd be interested in this. We've found it beneficial as we don't have to keep a huge army of guys on hand(or tools), when and if the time comes, we join forces. If you are interested in future projects, please msg me back. Thanks, Nick.
