Well, this was fun. Waiting on the copper to get done, ( by others, sadly) …I went there under Grant’s Tuteledge for my first ever copper standing seam roof. The Porch on the main house.
Well, the HO / GC(?) wanted fascia , needed fascia, before our crew could install the DE…no DE, no roof. I got my big mouth open, and got the job to install the WRC fascia, and then the ( for lack of a better term) vaulted soffit..I mean the soffit does not have a level plane, it follows the rafter tails at 7/12…until it meets the sub fascia where it levels for 3 .125 inches. See, it woulda messed w/ the window heads.
So Grant had the boom lift and 2 guys set up the Pumps on the rear side ( outta view) and I went at bevel ripping WRC 1×8 and had at it with trim screws and a Paslode fart nailer.
I’ll get the finish pics soon..but that tower was fun,,,,,In a boom, a DW Circsaw, and bevel gauge..with a buddy of mine under the basket, freaking out that I might drop some thing and bruise him…I did it all outta the boom….12′ lengths, and helper nails.
I love this guys place, it is about the same travel as going to the big city time wise, but it almost takes 4wd to get there..a REAL back woods type mentality, which I covet.
If Grant can free me up, i’ll be doing the siding too..but I am dedicated to being available to him , before anyone else, he is the man..Thanks Grant, Thanks Tom, Thanks Gorden…it was a sweet break from gutters…made me realize, I am a carpenter first.

Is that an old dovetail notched log cabin with new addition?
I'm going to look for the beam hauler in the morning.

Yeah, this guy bought a pile of wood that was a house at aone time..laid up a stone foundation, and re-erected it..with added parts from other diggs.
He set up the main house quite awhile ago,,no plumbing, no bathroom, no kitchen..basically like mine, LOL.
The dt notches are indicitive to the family origins around here, a story in them selves. A sharp or dull blade was / is easy to spot. Same holds true in our present day observations, ever see a carpenter sharpen a pencil? No matter HOW he does it, no matter HOW sharp it is, it ain't about the pencil...it is about the person behind it, and HOW he/she approaches the task the pencil needs to do..that's what I see.
Like I see in your work ethic..do it, do it good, and I bet the pencil is for writing the invoice with a big "Thank You for your biznezz"
Eyeball everything, it dont lie, ever. ( well unless yer toasted).
I can HEAR a dull tool or an inexp.OP. in the distance, it either makes me a superhero, or insane...lately, I been thinking, I am both.

Nope I use a pen for the invoice and I definately don't sharpen- if you get my drift.
If I find the tool tom. I'll put up a pic in the Wanted thread of yours.
Walter
THNX..I'll keep me ears peeled for the post.
Walter, I got a NOTHER hair cut yesterday, the guy spent as much time on my ears as he did my head...man, I never had another man lather up my earlobes and start shaving them...hence the ears peeled line, they are...slick as snake belly on a slug trail, in the dew, after eatin them Hostas.
